Today, March 31, 2008, will be the last day that Aloha Airlines will be flying passengers. On April 1, 2008 and this is not an early April Fools joke, Aloha will shut down their passenger operations after more than 60 years of service.
West coast cities which will no longer be served by Aloha from Hawaii include Orange County, Reno, Sacramento, Oakland and Las Vegas. Other routes Aloha has served included: Orange County to Sacramento and Reno, and Oakland to Las Vegas. Flights between these markets will be suspended today.
Passengers holding tickets solely on Aloha Airlines who have already begun travel should contact United Airlines, Aloha's codeshare partner, via telephone at 1-800-UNITED-1. United will offer a special one-way airfare for these tickets for travel between March 31 and April 30, 2008.
If you are a member of AlohaPass, Aloha's frequent flyer program, and have booked your flight on a United Airlines flight, United will honor these free tickets.
If you are holding a roundtrip ticket on Aloha Airlines but it was booked on a United-operated or a United codeshare flight, United will continue to honor these tickets.
If you were booked roundtrip on flights operated by Aloha Airlines, you should contact your credit card company immediately and demand a refund. If the tickets were paid for with a debit card or cash, you will probably have to stand in line with the other creditors.
